Randolph town officers inaugurated

Candidates who were successful in the November town council election were inaugurated Sunday, Jan. 5, at the First Baptist Church in Randolph during an Interfaith Services.

The swearing-in ceremony originally scheduled for Jan. 2 at Stetson Hall was postponed due to the snowstorm.

State representatives and senators, town officials and residents attended were in attendance to witness the historic occasion.

Councillor Ken Clifton, who was returned to office with more than 70 percent of the votes in his district, said he was looking forward to the new term.

“I am deeply honored and indebted to the people of my district of South Randolph to have returned me to office with such a resounding victory,” he said. “I will continueto work hard in the interests of all our residents. I want to be worthy of their confidence.”

Newly elected members of the School Committee also  were sworn into office. They included Rebecca Robateau, Bruce Pontbriand and Abdi Ibrahim.

The Interfaith Services were moderated by Pastor Dr. Roger Haber of the First Baptist Church, with the Invocation by Father Ronald Coyne and Scripture Reading by Rev. Wallace Browne and Rev. Keith Banks-Obanor. Rev. Ron Stephenson made the welcoming remarks, and the Benediction was done Rabbi Stephen Listfield.

Swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Town Clerk Brian Howard, and Town Manager Dave Murphy made brief remarks.

Dominique Ellison performed the National Anthem, and local poet Kyle Bent recited a poem.
